Dave

Managing Director

Dave Wolfenden is a seasoned technologist and Programme Director turned entrepreneur, whose more than 40-year career spans the high-stakes world of data centre design, construction, and testing. From IT Operations and Technical Sales to overseeing multi-million-pound infrastructure builds—including major UK retail bank and insurance data centres—Dave has thrived in complex, fast-paced environments across countless market sectors.

Since 2002, he’s shifted gears from corporate life to running Mafi Mushkila Ltd, also known as HeatLoad—the UK’s largest dedicated heat load testing provider, currently boasting more than 100MW of capacity. Under his leadership, the company continues to push boundaries, developing innovative products and services that serve mission-critical clients across the country.

Armed with a wealth of hands-on experience rather than a wall of academic accolades, Dave brings practical wisdom, fierce curiosity, and a no-nonsense attitude to everything he does. He’s proof that grit, adaptability, and a touch of irreverence can take you farther than any acronym ever could.

Glen

Sales Director

As the Sales Director of Mafi Mushkila Ltd (trading as HeatLoad), Glen holds a crucial role in steering revenue growth and formulating internal sales strategies. Being part of a family-owned enterprise, his duties extend beyond the conventional scope of a Sales Director (encompassing financial management, HR, logistics, product development, project management and overseeing the general management of the estate).
Glen has spent his entire adult career within the business, gaining experience across nearly every operational and commercial role. This broad exposure has given him a deep understanding of the organisation and its services, while also providing a strong foundation for building meaningful client relationships and expanding his professional network.

In the early 2000s, Mafi Mushkila Ltd was primarily engaged in server migration projects. During this time, he supported the business on a part-time basis while pursuing his studies in IT at college, gaining early exposure to operational processes within the Data Centre services sector.

In 2009, Glen joined the company on a full-time basis as a HeatLoad Operative. Over the following years, he progressed into a supervisory position, with core responsibilities that included leading small teams during site installations/decommissions, conducting detailed site surveys, liaising with clients to coordinate project logistics, and ensuring seamless on-site delivery with minimal disruption to client operations.

In late 2016, Glen transitioned into a strategic office-based position as the company’s first Business Development Manager, taking ownership of sales and marketing functions. Over a six-year period, he focused on expanding the company’s client portfolio and increasing revenue through targeted commercial development. This trajectory led to his appointment as Sales Director, where he now lead the organisation’s sales strategy, client engagement, and commercial growth initiatives.

Looking to the future, Glen‘s ambition is to strategically scale the business by prioritising the development of our workforce, enhancing Heatload’s product and service offerings, optimising warehouse infrastructure and driving innovation in alignment with emerging industry technologies, such as liquid cooling.

At the same time, Heatload remains committed to our core mission: delivering the exceptional quality and client-focused services that have defined the company from the outset. After all, Heatload’s company motto is: “Data Centre Testing? No problem!”

Owen

Sales Representative

Owen‘s professional career in the Data Centre industry began at Heatload, where he is a key representative for the sales team. He is responsible for managing key client accounts, building long-term relationships, and driving business growth across the UK and Europe. Since stepping into the role in late 2022 as the first dedicated member of the sales team outside of the company family, Owen has worked closely with the Sales Director to expand the client portfolio and strengthen Heatload’s position in the Data Centre commissioning space.

Owen began his career at Heatload in 2021 as an Operative, working on sites across the UK and internationally. That experience gave him technical knowledge of the company’s specialist rental equipment and a solid understanding of the Data Centre environment. Over time, he has progressed into a supervisory position, leading site teams through installations and removals, and overseeing project delivery on the ground.

This foundation has been a huge asset in Owen’s sales career. It allows him to provide clients with practical, informed support on their projects, ensuring solutions are aligned with their technical and logistical needs. Heatload is not just selling a service—the sales team understands the intricacies of what Heatload delivers and how it impacts the clients’ operations.

Being part of a family-run business, Owen‘s role extends beyond sales. He is actively involved in logistics, project coordination and operational planning, giving him a well-rounded view of how to drive value for Heatload’s customers at every stage.

Looking ahead, Owen‘s goal is to continue scaling the sales team, forging strategic partnerships, and driving sustainable growth for the business. He is passionate about delivering real value to Heatload’s clients, expanding outreach to new and existing markets, and helping shape the future of Heatload as a trusted partner in the Data Centre industry.
