Temporary environmental monitoring and testing

Our temporary environmental monitoring system uses EkkoSense’s Internet of Things-enabled wireless temperature and humidity sensors connected to a secure private network to collect real-time data during testing. The AI-powered 3D visualisation and analytics EkkoSoft Critical solution then creates a digital twin virtual model of your data hall in the software. This ensures you have full visibility of conditions in the data hall, without needing live IT equipment in place.

Why Choose Heatload Monitoring?

  • Live Insight

Monitor conditions live throughout testing, locally or remotely, from any device, anywhere in the world. Identify issues immediately, not at the end of a test.

  • Faster Commissioning

Unlike USB sensors that only provide results after testing, our system lets you identify problems during the test. If cooling or power issues appear, testing can be paused, fixed, and re-run without wasting valuable time.

  • Optimised Cooling Performance

With Ekkosense’s AI-driven Cooling Advisor, you get clear recommendations on how to balance and improve airflow, reducing energy waste and avoiding hotspots.

  • Lower Costs & Reduced Risk

By catching issues early, you cut both the time and cost of testing. Continuous monitoring helps demonstrate that HVAC and power systems are working as expected, ensuring sign-off with confidence.

  • Commissioning-Ready Reporting

All monitoring data is securely stored in the cloud and can be used to generate detailed reports for inclusion in final commissioning documentation, up to 24 months after testing.

Environmental Testing Equipment

During the commissioning and IST process of a Data Centre facility it is critical that the temperature and humidity is recorded to identify any issues. Using Ekkosense’s software we can build a virtual Data Hall and configure temperature sensors to specific locations.

We’ve consolidated the components for an Ekkosense monitoring solution into a single 25U rack.

Each rack includes:

  • 100 x Thermal & Humidity Ekkosensors

We can add more for larger facilities.

  • 1 x 4G Modem to transmit the data to the Ekkosense cloud portal

  • 1 x Ekkolink Local Data Storage

To consolidate data locally for automated upload to the cloud and to buffer data in the event of a network outage. We currently operate 7 independent systems.

  • 4 x EkkoHub Units

To increase coverage across larger Data Halls.

Ekkosense Portal

The Ekkosense software portal can be accessed anywhere in the world by laptop, PC, smartphone or tablet device. You can monitor your IST remotely and on multiple devices simultaneously.

Heatload will create a virtual live data hall that can be accessed 24/7 to monitor and gather results from your test with your own personal login.

Temperature alerts can be set up to send email alerts when exceeding custom temperature ranges.

Reports can be generated for custom periods at any point during the test, highlighting:

Ekko Temperature and Humidity Sensors:

Each Ekkosense system can manage up to 1000 sensors:

  • Operating temperature range

    10°C to 55°C (14°F to 131°F)

  • Temperature accuracy (internal sensor)

    ±0.3°C typical (±0.5°F)

  • Operating range (from EkkoHub)

    > 20m (21yds)

  • Battery life

    > 5 years at 2 minute transmit interval (THX)

Ekko-Air Cooling Duty Sensor:

EkkoAir Wireless is housed in a standard DIN rail mount enclosure with two compact temperature and humidity sensors that connect via small cables.

Sensors can be fixed in position using screws or cable ties. The humidity-sensing element is protected with a PTFE membrane to avoid measurement errors caused by dust build-up.

Single or three phase fan current measurements are made using standard millivolt output current transformers. An opto-isolated 12V-24V AC input is provided. This can be used to monitor the operating status of the CRAC/AHU.
